Mah hubby's talent; let me show you it.

In order to commemorate our time here in Okinawa, the wonderful and talented Mr. Rhymeswithorange has cooked up something spectacular.

Mike has been working tirelessly for days putting this all together. He is really smart, very talented and also seriously cute. So, without further ado, I give you Mike's amazing and fabulous creation =)

Go! Look! Click on things! He has put together a wonderfully comprehensive page that will hopefully give everyone a little glimpse into what we've seen while we've been here. Enjoy =)

(Also! Leave a comment for him =)

Party like it's 2999.

On Friday, we had a birthday party for Mike. A small bbq with some friends. It was a lot of fun. We were up way too late, ate way too much cheesecake and played the Wii till we passed out.

I'd say it was a roaring success =)

Twenty-Four

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Mike, Happy Birthday to you!

Pict0244

At roughly 5:20am, Mike was officially twenty-four years old back in the States. He was born August 18th, 1983 at 4:20pm.

He gets cuter and more wonderful every year. And also harder to buy gifts for.

I love you! =)

Two Years

About three or four months after Mike and I had been married, I was talking with my best friend, Annie, and she asked me what my favorite thing about being married was. I went into lengthy details about how I loved not having to sleep alone anymore (I hate sleeping alone. Monsters might get me.), blah blah blah always a shoulder to cry on, blah blah blah, mushy newly wed stuff. When I asked Annie what her favorite part of marriage was, she told me it was Ryan. Her favorite part of marriage was being married to Ryan.

I didn't quite get it at the time, and it's taken me almost two years to realize what she meant, but I get it now. Being married to Mike is my favorite part of marriage. I love being married to him. It's not even something I can really describe, but anyone who has been with the love of their life, even for a little while, will be able to tell you the same thing: That person is what you love most about your relationship. They also can drive you up walls in a way no one else in this world can ;)

Okay, so that was super schmoozy and also highly confusing word-wise (I wrote it at 1am last night while high on Benadryl) In spite of the horrid wording and Benadryl induced nostalgia though, I meant every word =)

I loved Mike's company when we were dating, but two years later I realize that I enjoy being with him more than anyone else I know. When I look at Mike, and I see so much life.

And I'm so grateful that we get to live it together.

Happy Anniversary baby. I love you.

In which I totally talk about the weather for lack of better content

I'm sorry for how focused on the negative my blog has been lately. It was like life decided to smack me upside the head this month though. I think things are getting back on track though.

It has been so ridiculously hot here. Walking around outside here feels like wearing still wet, woolen clothes warmed from the dryer. In a steam room. Holding a humidifier.

Our second anniversary is in a little under two weeks, and I can scare believe it. Two years. Wow. Married life hasn't been all peaches and cream as some would leave you to believe, but I wouldn't trade a minute of it. I love being married to Mike. He makes me...complete =)

Last Sunday, Mike and I were huggers at the Okinawa Special Olympics. We both got sunburned and drenched. So in other words, it was a huge success =D

Gazebo

Well, I have some interesting but really fun news!

The last week we were at the BX (The on-base department store), and we passed a prize give-away box thingy. Mike decided to put his name in for kicks and giggles, and then we went on our merry way to buy spray paint and shower gel (It's fun to make explosives with common household items!) (Am SO kidding.) Anyway, the next day, I received a call from the manager of the BX, "Um hi, Mrs. Watrous? I'm calling to inform you that your husband has won a gazebo." Me: "You're joking right?" Manager: "No, he actually won it. You're gonna want to bring a large van or truck to pick it up." Me: *colorful expletive*. Mike's reaction was about the same.

It took a lot of effort to get home. We borrowed our neighbor's van in which it BARELY fit. It took about five janitors to help us, but they were all laughing really hard, so it took quite some time. When we got home, we managed to drag it into the backyard, where we spent four hours struggling to read directions written in Pig Latin. And now may I present, Mike's Gazebo.

Silver Flag

I am on my own until Valentine's Day. Mike is at Silver Flag this week. Basically, they get to live in tents a few miles away from their own beds, eat MREs and pretend to be at war. It's not a whole lot of fun for anyone, and I will miss him a lot (Especially when I have to go to bed all by myself. Who will keep my toes warm? Or hug me when I have bad dreams?), but at least he's still on base, and I know he's safe. Also, it's only one week, so I'll be okay.

In the meantime, the cats and I are totally gonna party it up. That is if I can get them off of my lap. After Mike started packing last night, they got very clingy. Everytime I sit down, they flock to my lap as though their combined body weight will keep me from packing up and leaving them. Poor traumatized kittens. Caspie keeps trying to eat my necklace and steal straws out of my drinks though, so I'm pretty sure he'll be okay.

I plan on spending the week watching a lot of 'Friends', eating popcorn for dinner and trying out some of the fun beauty tips I read about in Cosmo. Avocado and sour cream in my hair? Sounds like I'm trying to use my head to make guacamole.

Nothing says 'Happy Holidays!' like graphic Christmas cookies

I love baking cookies for Mike's office. The guys there call me 'The Cookie Lady' and rave over my chocolate chip cookies (Yes, I am that much like Monica from Friends. It is sad), so I decided to bake some of my favorite Christmas cookies early for a little jump start on the holidays. They are simple sugar cookies cut into shapes and then frosted with vanilla cake frosting that's been dyed fun colors. They are super yummy and fun to make.

Yesterday, I started frosting them when Mike decided to join in and get a little...creative. Here's what my cookies looked like:

Frankly, I like his better =)

Mr. Rwo

Well, I know all of you are wondering in suspence "What happened to Kate's hair? Did her hair eat her in protest? Did her hair stylist speak common sense to Kate over the telephone? What happened!?"

Well, since Kate is too busy to keep her blog readers in the light, I, Mike, Mr. Rhymes With Orange(*shrug*) will inform:

She's fine. Her hair looks fine. She looks great (I couldn't say she looked fine for risk of sleeping on the couch). We've just been getting ready for my mother to arrive here on island tonight in 2 hours actually.

Romeo's getting better. He's still scared of everyone and everything, but we've been letting him out of the bathroom (We've been letting him sleep in there with his cage, so he has somewhere he feels safe). He and Piper are starting to wrestle, and Romeo cries whenever he doesn't have visual contact of Piper. I'd call him a kitty stalker, but we're the ones who trapped him in.

And as of the writing of this post, because of how well Romeo and Pip are getting a long, we've decided to keep Romeo. That of course can change, but for now we are. He's improving a lot. Letting us pet him when he's in his cage, not running away when we're in ther same room, and he's not hiding underneath beds or behind washers. He just cries... a lot, and I think Piper smacks him across the head to tell him to shut up. She's definatly still the queen of this household, and she wants to make sure he knows it.

*ahem* Now that I've written a post of my own, I'll let you go back to your blogging ways, oh great blogging community.

- Mike
