Pictures aplenty

Congratulations! It's an apartment!

Pict0009

This is the view from the front door. The carpet it actually clean and lovely, but the lighting in the photo makes it look all icky.

The kitchen. Where all the cheesecake-y magic happens.

The dining room. Also pictured a lamp and rubbermade container that have yet to find their places.

Our bedroom (which could use some decorating help. Also nightstands ;)

The little, sunny nook is where Little Mister Orange's crib is going to be.

Lego land.

So that is our apartment! I love it. It's really nice and being able to decorate it has quelled my nesting needs...for now.

Not much else is new. Oh! Except this:

Little MO has decided that growing is his new favorite past time (there is a little bit of a shadow on the photo. I'm not quite THAT big yet). This week I've heard "Any day now huh?" four times, and the moving guy told me I looked like I was ready to pop. That one did bring on the tears.

New arrivals

Last night at 6pm, Chloe and I arrived at our new home which is absolutely beautiful! Mike did a fantastic job =) I promise pictures later, but right now it looks like our house threw up. The packing part was easy because tiny men who spoke little english came to our house and started tossing stuff in boxes before I was even fully concious, but now we have to deal with the after math of their packing. "Honey? Why are there three shoes, a book about popculture and the toaster in this box?"

It's kind of like trying to put together a jigsaw puzzle. Made completely out of jello.

The hunt for beige November

Guess what we painted this weekend!

Pict0334

Not pictured: Chloe's very beige left back leg and tummy because she just wouldn't cooperate while I took embarrassing photos of her.

It was really hard because she kept wiggling around and making it difficult, but I think beige is really her color. Plus, now that the paint has dried into a hard shell and rendered her unable to move, she's so much easier to keep track of.

Oh, we also painted this:

Pict0336

Pict0339

It wasn't nearly as much fun. Farewell green paint. You will be missed. Military beige is stupid.

OCD

So yesterday I was out walking the cats (Yes, I was walking them on tiny harnesses made for tiny, yippy dogs around our neighborhood, but that is a totally different string in the yarn ball I call my psyche), and I noticed that the neighbors accross the parking lot from us had really clean cement in front of their doors. I mean REALLY clean. And all the junk under their stairs? Totally stacked and organized. This of course threw me into a panic because our cement? Covered in dirt and grass and also has pieces of dryer lint and taco bell wrappers stuck to it.

The next thirty minutes found me sweeping, scrubbing, organizing and mumbling to myself about how nobody else in this apartment building cares about how our building looks! And then I spent another few hours thinking about dumping leaves on their stairs because HOW DARE THEY HAVE NICER CEMENT THAN ME!

I am a total crazy person.

Let's just say that it's a good thing the cat is already white.

P4231020

I'm determined to conquer the beige paint! This is what my dining room looked like at 1pm today. A few days ago while reading through some papers in a draw, I discovered the we are allowed to paint as long as we paint it back before we leave. So in a fit of insanity spring cleaning, I deemed that the whole house should be painted, and that I! should! do! it! One room down, only three & half more to go! Plus the rest of the trim...

P4231026

P4231031

And of course, what kinda of post would this be without everyone's favorite paint connoisseur, and my personal helper =)

P4231018

She did taste the paint today. Not one of her brighter moments, but can you blame her? It's shiny.

*I painted the diningroom white in case anyone is wondering. It's so close to the nasty yellow tile (which looks pretty in the photo but do not be fooled!) that I decided the best thing to do was just go with white. The rest of the house will be done in colors. Which? I have not decided as of yet.

Toast! Yeah! Toast!

My toaster is here! Along with lots of other lovely things that my Mama sent me. Some of our towels have arrived as well as a muffin tin, cooling racks and cutting board. Mom also sent me this:

Pc020547

A ball winder and swift of my very own! And three skeins of yarn she made =D I feel special! As if that wasn't already good enough, she sent me lots of my favorite gum and SARI SILK YARN! I must say, I squealed with delight when I spotted it =D

Pc020548

There was tons of stuff in there that I've missed. The blanket she crocheted me, the blanket Mike's Mom crocheted him, a gorgeous Egyptian cotton blanket we received as a wedding gift, my feather boa, Clive Eats Alligators (My favorite kids book in the whole wide world! Read it. You'll love it), the second book of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, notes from my daddy, MY CD'S!, and lots of other stuff too!

She also gave Piper the best gift a hyper-active kitten could ask for:

Pc020545

I'm so happy all the stuff finally came, but mostly: The toaster!!! Thanks Mama! You are awesome =D I love you! (And not just because you sent me my toaster ;)

Decking the halls. And where is my figgy pudding??

Here's the post I promised ya'll last weekend, chalk full of tree-trimming goodness. I won't give the play-by-play of the pictures though because, well, they pretty much speak for themselves.

After much searching. Mike and I have found a medium size cheaters Christmas tree that is perfect for our first Christmas by ourselves (It was cheap, and it took 5 minutes to put up ;) Piper, of course, has deemed it hers. (See the white blur shooting up the tree?)

A day in the life of Kate

7:15am

Have been searching the house for AA batteries to use in the camera. The remote batteries are useless; must keep searching.  Note to self: Stop playing with the springy battery cover on the camera as if the camera is a puppet. Must not scare the neighbors...again.

7:30am

Still Searching, but I did find a blue crayon. Will continue writing with the crayon.

7:35am

Nearly wet myself just a minute ago when a bunch of small people completely covered in cloth walked past my window with large pieces of lawn equipment.

7:40am

Have located the batteries. Will pick up the house and then start taking pictures.

8:00am

Got distracted by a bug. We fought, but then he hid under my dresser. Stupid bug.

8:05am

The batteries died again. Must raid Mike's CD player.

8:06am

     Must charge batteries. Stupid batteries.

8:50am

Finally took pictures. Here are a few. The rest will be in an album on the sidebar =)
