A day late and a little bit short.

I hope everyone had a very, very Merry Christmas!

We are staying with Mike's grandparents right now visiting with all of his family, and I don't have the cord to my camera right now, so I won't be posting any pictures for right now, but I wanted to drop a quick line just to let you know that we alive and well. We are also very busy contemplating my ever expanding belly (It's not a good sign when complete strangers stand agape when you tell them that you are only 19 weeks along. This news made one guy choke on a french fry.)

Happy Holidays from all of here at Chez Watrous!

Kate, Mike, Chloe and Baby Orange.

Also, we got our luggage three and half days after we arrived. I hope it had a nice vacation ;)

Almost Happy Birthday to me!

I couldn't sleep, so I thought maybe writing and a few mindless quizzes would help.

I can't believe that I'm almost 21. It's a little scary. I never really thought I'd make it this far. Sounds really weird huh? When you're little though, you don't think you'll EVER be anything but a child. And then one day you wake up and realize you're all grown up (even if you aren't an adult at heart ;)

I can't wait to find out what Mike got me for a my birthday. I know what one of my gifts is, but the other is still a mystery. The one I do know about though is a subscription to Cosmopolitan (he didn't want me to wonder if it just showed up in the mail before my birthday), one of my favorite guilty pleasures that I rarely indulge in. He's so awesome =)

One last note before I head off to bed. I love you Mama and Daddy. Happy day you became parents!

About a Girl

Sometimes at night, I start thinking too hard. I think about our future. I think about my past. I think about the could have, the should have, and the would have. Eventually, I wind up on the subject of college. All of my classmates are starting the second half of their junior year, and I am stuck at terminal freshman. I've let my schooling slack since I moved here. Which is totally my fault. I've had plenty of opportunities and support from everyone. This is just what I chose.

After thinking about this for a while, I start to panic. My chest gets tight, my heart races and think about how they're all preparing for their futures and here I am buying produce at Jusco and watching bad Japanese soap operas. Last night though, for the first time, I thought of something else that made me really happy. My classmates may have all conquered algebra, but I can bid the local gate guards good morning in their native language. I can do Yen to Dollar calculations fairly accurately when I'm shopping. I have used a squatty potty. I have seen the world's biggest tug of war game, eaten some of the craziest foods, learned the hard way about the strength of Okinawa liquor, seen traditional Japanese dances and ceremonies, walked where great kings of old ruled Okinawa, have seen Sukura blossoms up close and not just in pictures, felt the sting of anti American protesters and have bought coffee in a can. I can say Good morning, Good afternoon and Good evening in Japanese. As well as Thank you, Yes, No and Excuse me.

I have lived more than many people twice my age. Who am I to whine? =)

Denise

You'll never guess what came in the mail. Never ever ever!....don't ya at least wanna try? Okay, I'll wait a few lines for you to guess...

Done?

How about now?

In today's mail, I received a set a Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles! I screamed (in the middle of the post office mind you) and there was some dancing involved. At least till people started asking if I was having a seizure.

My mom wrote into a contest Anne Kaelber was having on her blog, and she won me these INCREDIBLE needles! I still I can't believe I own my own set of Denise needles. I keep opening the box and petting them. They're so pretty. I'm afraid to take them out. So, so pretty...

Thank you so much Mama! I love you very much! And thank you Anne. I keep getting all teary eyed because of your generosity. I feel very blessed, very special and very loved. I can't say thank you enough.

Just wanted to be the last to wish you a Merry Christmas!

I'm finding it hard to get back to a posting regularly after basically being off for two weeks. Not that I was great at posting regularly before my dad came, but at least I gave it the old college try. I didn't even write a small Christmas post this year though. By the way, how was your Christmas Internet? Merry? I hope so =)

Our Christmas was really great. Mike and I got totally spoiled. I know I didn't deserve it. My mama even knitted me some new slippers because my old ones had a hole. I love them. I haven't taken them off in days. Sadly, I even wore them to pick Mike up from work a few times. Piper and Caspie love Christmas. Piper enjoys Christmas carols and sitting under the tree, Caspian likes to climb the tree, remove a candy cane and then run and hide it.

I hope that each and every one of you had a blessed and wonderful Christmas, and that the new year will be filled with much joy, love and wonderful memories.

Happy holidays from all of us here at Chez Watrous!

Some one else makes the beds? I think I love them.

Tomorrow morning, Mike and I leave for our first vacation since our honeymoon. We are going to a small island off the coast called EI Island. I'm so excited. It's only a three day vacation, but still. Two nights of cat-free sleep? Oh yeah baby.

I'm excited and yet terrified. I've been running around the house all day saying, "Could Caspian eat that? Could he strangle himself on this? Will my plants make it with Pip?" We've never left them alone before over night. Most people would tell me I'm crazy. They're just cats. Cats never get into trouble. You can leave cats for weeks at time as long as they have food and water, and they're fine. Right? WRONG. I used to be one of those people. Then I met Piper.

I have a few friends coming to look in on them periodically each day. To make sure they haven't killed each other or that Casp hasn't shut himself in the bathroom again. They should be fine...right?

What happiness is

When we last left our heroine, Mr. Rhymes With Orange had just arrived home...

The past few days have been wonderful. We've done whatever we've pleased. Gone furniture shopping, gone out to eat, indulged the Pip with new cat toys, taken long naps in the middle of the day, watched movies, bowled, etc. it's been wonderful.

The house feels complete again. My hubby is home and all is right in my world.
