Untitled

My daddy is arriving on Okinawa later tonight. I'm so excited! And yet so unprepared. I've bleached the grout on the bathroom floor, yet I don't have any clean bed sheets for him. Hmm.

I've been a super ditz as of late. Which I could probably use as an excuse for the lack of posting. Just ask Mike. I don't know where my mind went. I can't remember anything. I seem to do this a couple of times a year. I go through long periods where I can't keep track of anything. What did I come into the room for? Where did I leave my shoe? What word was I going to say next? AND FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS CAFFEINATED WHY CAN'T I PRONOUNCE THE WORD 'EXAMINATION' ANYMORE?

I think my brain has begun to atrophy due to the lack of schooling. I miss school. It made me feel smart. I like feeling smart. I don't even mind the tiny pinched feeling between my eyebrows I get when I feel stressed.

Mr. Sandman...stay off my floors!

Last night after running around like a mad woman scrubbing, mopping, sweeping and vacuuming every floor in the house, I passed out on the couch where I had Mr. Clean and pbj sandwich induced dreams. I dreamed that I was mopping the kitchen floor when all of a sudden there was this small, orange, sticky spot that would.not.go.away. No matter how much I scrubbed! I woke up at 3am and ran in to the kitchen to make sure I had been dreaming.

I think it's time to get some new hobbies.

Hey, it could happen!

I love signing into Typepad. It's always so cheerful. "Welcome back to Typepad, Kate!"

If only everything were this friendly. "Welcome back to the Commisary, Kate!" "Welcome back to the Dentist, Kate!" "Welcome back to the Bathroom, Kate!"

My very own user-friendly world.

It would be awesome.

Hairy situation

As I type, I am breaking a promise I made to a certain hair colorist back in Michigan. Why you may ask? I have no idea. Boredom might be a good answer. Stupidity is another. But really I'm not sure. My highlights have long since grown out, and my hair has started looking ratty in a "Brittney Spears before the brunette" kinda way. I know it's very in nowadays, but it's not really me, so I went and bought a box of non-permanent color casting in wheat blond. Bad idea, yes? But it doesn't have ammonia in it or...well there's the timer. Must go wash. I'll post again once it dries.

Banana shakes and also pirates

I've reached new and dizzying heights of blondness today. While making a shake, I blended the straw I was using to test the concoction. I tried the shake, added more ice cream, put the lid on and watched as the straw started moving. It took me a few seconds to realize something was awry. I tried to save the shake by using a strainer, but it was no use. The shake was not meant to be.

Why is it that my blender can't seem to manage blending ice cream, but it chops straws to tiny pieces in a matter of mere seconds?

Mike has to go back to work on Wednesday, so we're working on enjoying every last minute of our free time together. We went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean today. It was a total let down. I was bored. And antsy. I wiggled in my seat through out the whole movie. I hope the third movie is better then this one. It was not worth using my free movie coupon for.

Tears, fears & regretfully a Loreal at home copper highlight kit II

When we last left our heroine, she had just admitted that she had made a mistake highlighting her own hair (the first step on the road to recovery is admitting there is a problem) and was about to succumb to having her fixed by a professional.

On Friday, I spent four long hours in the chair of a local stylist named Bitsy (She's a doll! If I have a daughter, I'm naming her Bitsy.) After many touch-and-go moments, I emerged from the salon with a head full of shining, dark blond curls* and perfectly done golden highlights. Bitsy is my hero.

*For nineteen years, I have been deceived into thinking I was a brunette, but after ten minutes of holding up tiny samples of fake hair to coom, it was decided that I was actually a very dark blond. This would explain the blond moments I am so well known for. This comes as no surprise to my mom who upon hearing this said, "Why so surprised? I've known your whole life. You may have been born with black hair, but you had dirty (literally) blond hair from the time you were three till you were eleven." I am undone.

What I Learned from Boyscouts

Today, I began humming "God Bless America". I didn't really think about it until I suddenly started singing, "From the washer, to the drier, from my backpack to my rear. God Bless my underwear! My only pair." I am one hot Chica.

With George Foreman and hopping spiders, who needs enemies??

Spiders should not be allowed to hop. Especially spiders that I find crawling along my kitchen counter. I've never seen a spider hop. I'm not talking about a jump off the counter or anything, a frog-like hop! Almost like bunny hops, if you will. It's so wrong, and it makes them appear to be twice as creepy. In Michigan spiders never hop! Apparently though, the spiders here do not have that same views on hopping as Michigan spiders do.

In other news, I am sad. The people in apartment C have just moved out taking with them their lawnmower, and two really cute dogs. A big dalmation that licked me a lot, and a tiny, yippy dog that bounced a lot. I will miss them. I will also miss the lawnmower because now we are forced to either fix the old one they left behind, or buy a new one. Dang it.

Today, I answered a deep and ponderous question: Is it possible to cook hotdogs using George Foreman's Lean Mean Grillin' Machine? The answer? Yes. Would I recommend it? No. Let us not speak of it anymore.
